Pedro Hernandez

Pedro Hernandez is the son of immigrant agricultural workers. His experiences growing up in Watsonville, serving as a student trustee for the local school board, set in motion his commitment to community empowerment at a young age.

Pedro brings both experience and passion to electoral reform and community advocacy. He worked as an Associate at the Law Office of Robert Rubin where he specialized in claims under the California Voting Rights Act. He served as Editor-in-Chief of the Hastings Race & Poverty Law Journal, and as Political Chair at UC Hastings La Raza Law Students Association. He previously served as an Education Equity Fellow at Public Advocates, clerked at the Equal Justice Society and California Rural Legal Assistance (CRLA), and externed at the U.S. Department of Education’s Office of Civil Rights.

Pedro previously served as the Deputy Director of FairVote California. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science, with a minor in American Studies, from the University of California, Davis; and J.D. from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, where he earned recognition for his outstanding achievement in providing pro bono legal services.

Trent Lange

Trent Lange has served on the board of the California Clean Money Campaign since 2003 and became Executive Director in 2009. He has been a spokesperson, lobbyist, and policy expert for CCMC, analyzing campaign spending and proposing solutions to campaign finance issues both for California and elsewhere, including leading the campaign for AB 249, the California DISCLOSE Act, the first bill in the country to make political ads clearly show their true funders even if they try to hide behind layers of front groups. He has been on the executive committees of five ballot campaigns in California, including serving as co-chair of Measure H, the Clean Money measure in Los Angeles that passed by a 3-1 margin in 2011.

Dr. Lange has a Ph.D. from UCLA, with a multidisciplinary academic background in computer science, cognitive science, and cognitive psychology, and is the author of over 20 academic publications. He was formerly President and CEO of Lange Fund Management, LLC., which ran small but successful market-neutral hedge funds.

Michele Sutter

Michele Sutter, MOVI (Money Out Voters In) co-founder, is a writer, teacher, producer, and activist. She is a former Story Editor at HBO and a former co-chair of The 29th Street Project, a New York City based theater artists’ cooperative. She also produced the 2009 Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Award winning musical adaptation of Aristophanes’ The Wasps. A former ESL teacher for the Los Angeles Unified School District, she is a graduate of Princeton University and a recipient of a Nicholl Fellowship in screenwriting from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
Michele led the successful push for the MOVI sponsored SB 1272, The Overturn Citizens United Act through the California legislature. The bill became Proposition 49 and Michele was briefly the Chair of the Yes on Proposition 49 Campaign Committee, before Prop 49 was removed from the ballot by order of the Supreme Court of California. She currently chairs Californians for Money Out Voters In and is spearheading the campaign to restore Proposition 49, The Overturn Citizens United Act, to the California ballot.
