Much of The California Progressive Alliance volunteer leadership team today is focused on making our Founding Conference on March 30-31 in San Luis Obispo a meaningful and joyous experience for hundreds of fellow activists and organizers from throughout the state. We want you to learn and inform as we forge new relationships and an organization that helps nurture a broad front that will take us further than today’s corporate-money dominated politics can offer (charter schools alone spent $48 million on California elections last cycle!).

We know that progressive solutions for healthcare, energy, work, and education are broadly popular, but too often our voices are muffled by what seems like a limitless flood of corporate cash. If we are to change California, we have to get together, we have to get louder!

If you would like to get involved with the upcoming Convention and building our broad front of progressives organizing regardless of party, we have three powerful ways for you to lead:

Proposals – Do you have an endeavor of statewide interest that you’d like to recruit for? A proposal you’d like The CPA to support? The interim steering committee is seeking proposals for five-minute general assembly speaking slots on Day 1 of the Convention. Additionally, several proposal sponsors will have the opportunity for Day 2 breakout time during breakfast. We are also reserving a small number of tables in the dining breakout room for organizations that want to share flyers and other materials with CPA members and guests – half-table spots are $75 and include five tickets for the Convention. All proposals and table requests must meet the spirit of the CPA mission and receive interim steering committee approval. Please respond promptly as space is limited! Submission Guidelines

Allies – Political revolution is more fun with friends! We’ve opened up an official process for progressive organizations to partner with The CPA as Allies – if you would like your group to ally with The CPA (or have questions about what that means), review the Ally Request form today.

Steering Committee Election – To date, an interim Steering Committee of 9 people from across the state has led The CPA. We are welcoming volunteers who have a passion for this work and a record of lifting up the progressive movement to apply for Steering Committee positions. Review open positions and the SC application today – the Nomination Committee will interview all qualified candidates and prepare the official ballot for voting at the Founding Convention. SC applications are due Feb. 15 so don’t delay!

More information and ticketing for the Convention can be found on our website: californiaprogressivealliance.org

Please spread the word – tell friends who won’t want to miss these opportunities to inform and lead. Thank you!
